Martin Ricardo Cisneros (@TheTechProfe) is an Academic Innovation Specialist, speaker, GeekDad, TechJedi, and SuperMariachi, from Silicon Valley! In his position at the Santa Clara County Office of Education (Innovation.sccoe.org), Martin develops and facilitates professional learning on the most current educational trends for the purpose of improving teaching and learning through innovative processes. He has developed many blended curricular programs some of which have been adopted by districts, universities, and others that have been rolled out country-wide. Martin has experience teaching students and professionals at all levels including elementary, secondary, and higher education while working in the US, Canada, and Latin America.
Martin comes from a small migrant family from Mexico. Born and raised in a small town in California’s central valley, he understood from an early age that numerous opportunities could be obtained with the right education. Focused, Martin attended San Diego State University and graduated with Bachelors of Liberal Arts in 1994. A year later he received his Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a focus in Bilingual Crosscultural Language in Academic Development. Martin was fortunate to teach and work in a K-8 school district where 17 languages were spoken. For the next decade continued his teaching career in middle school then high school in various school districts in the central coast of California which has one the largest population of English Language Learners in the state. Martin continued to serve a low socio-economic population in his position as assistant principal, principal, afterschool director, educational technology coordinator, and IT director. In 2007, Martin began his work at the state level for the CTAP (California Technology Assistance Project) in providing district-wide assistance regionally in education technology. Martin has continued to support school districts statewide by his current work at the Santa Clara County Office of Education, his work with CUE inc., the Krause Center for Innovation at Foothill College and doing various consultant work in modern learning and teaching.
