I am a former CABE president and participant for over 30 years. I started my career as a bilingual teacher and later became a bilingual administrator before going into higher education full time. You can talk to me about bilingual education, teacher education, and Latino Civil Rights! I hope to you to my presentation on Wednesday, March 22nd at 10:30 am in the Renaissance Long Beach - Broadlind 1 where I will be discussing the current challenge we face with forces trying to dismantle what we know as the right to a free and public education. I will bring a guest, Mercedes Martinez, who is currently the president of the Federation of Teachers in Puerto Rico, where there is an ardent fight against the efforts to privatize their public school system, especially after Hurricane Maria. This is a move similar to what happened in New Orleans after Katrina. Let's discuss this important issue, which is also affecting California schools. Looking forward to meeting you!
