Karin Linn-Nieves, Director of Language and Literacy for the San Joaquin County Office of Education, has facilitated professional learning for educators of English learners for the past 25 years. She currently works with districts on the implementation of the CA ELD standards during integrated and designated ELD as described in the ELA/ELD Framework. At SJCOE, Karin authored “Structures & Strategies,” a professional learning model used across several counties.  She has co-authored many state and countywide English learner authorizations implemented over two decades and has facilitated multi-year English Learner Leadership and Advocacy Institutes. She serves as the Region 6 Lead for Title III technical assistance, and supports schools and districts in EL program design and implementation of effective instructional approaches. She co-authored a chapter in the TESOL publication, The CCSS in ELA/Literacy for English Language Learners: Grades K-5. Most recently, Karin served on the EL Roadmap.
